2023 Interior Trends

This years interior trends and how to incorporate the Pantone colour of the year, Viva Magenta into your home.

2023 brings with it a shift in the mood for interiors, with the focus being on interiors that bring you joy, in zen like serenity or with bold playful pattern.

Big bright lighting will give way to warm flattering lounge style light, edges and shapes are rounded and softened and big expensive seating styles give way to intimate convivial shared seats and cocooning solo armchairs.

Viva Magenta

the exuberant, playful pinky red shade that is the Pantone colour of the year is a beautifully bold, rich colour, signifying strength and warmth. Read on  for ideas for incorporating this most vivid, joyous colour into your home, along with some of the ideas that will be big in the coming year.

If you don't want to commit to full bold expanses of colour, use big bold swathes of accent colour.  Glassware, dried flowers, napkins and cushions will all give a vibrant colour injection.

However, if you’re feeling brave and want a total colour overhaul, go tonal; layer shades of pinks and reds along side each other for a truly joyous interior scheme. Or, pair with deep greens or terracotta's and paprika shades for contrast.

Alternatively, if maximalism is not your style, pair viva magenta with cool or warm earthy tones; greys and browns will give it a retro luxe feel.

The feeling for this year is a shift towards approachable luxury, for rooms to feel elegant but welcoming. Intricate details like luxury curtain trims or a maximalist wallpaper border add understated but important features.

Cocoon

Seating becomes cosy and inviting; a place to share a conversation and for relaxation. Conjoined seating and expansive armchairs give one the feeling of being cocooned. Fabrics are soft and warm; wool, worn leathers, rich velvets and corduroys are the fabrics of choice. Rich, plump, decorative cushions and floor pillows give added comfort and personality.

Accessories should be earthy; natural and red earth ceramics, wooden decorative objects and linen tableware give space a natural warmth. Textile fabrics for throws and pillows should be natural and textural; knotted blankets and slub linens, with rich wools and light knits to contrast.

Accents of gold replace copper and chrome to give a soft sunset shimmering feeling when paired with the earthy, terracotta and paprika oranges, pinks and reds that will dominate palettes. Adding rich blues and marble objects elevate the feeling of rich, luxurious, inviting interiors.
